How to convert MOV to MP4

  1. Choose a MOV file from an iPhone, a Mac or a camera.
  2. Keep MP4 (most compatible) so it plays everywhere, or choose MP4 (keep codec) to switch the container without re-encoding.
  3. Press Convert and download the MP4.

Why iPhone videos don't play everywhere

iPhones record MOV files with the HEVC (H.265) codec. Renaming the file to .mp4 doesn't change the codec, so it may still fail on older Windows PCs, some Android phones and some editors and websites.

MP4 (most compatible) re-encodes the video to H.264, which plays everywhere. MP4 (keep codec) only changes the container: it takes seconds and keeps the exact quality, and it suits devices that already play HEVC. Rotation is kept either way, so portrait videos stay upright.

Your video never leaves your device

Most online video tools upload your file to their servers, process it there and keep it for hours. This tool runs entirely in your browser: the video is read, processed and saved on your device, and nothing is uploaded. There are no ads, no watermark and no sign-up.

Phones write the GPS location and the camera model into every video. Those details are removed by default; untick "Remove location and device info" to keep them.
